“Use every opportunity that you will have when you are a volunteer in different countries” • Tinatin Kvelashvili

”Hello. I am Tinatin Kvelashvili 21 years old. I am a student of English philology, coach, ESC volunteer, and mentor.

My volunteering project was In Hungary and my host organization was EgyüttHató Egyesület / Association Co-Efficient. My host organization founded Hatáspont Tanoda where I was a volunteer during this year. I was working with Roma kids and children who have disabilities.

Hungary is so beautiful with its architecture, traditions, and culture but I did not choose this country because of this. For me, the project was interesting because it was about children. I love children so much and working with them means you have all the time new experiences and beautiful memories. I remember when I looked at the project name it was ,, Piece of My Heart Vol 4″ I was more interested and critical but now I agree with this name because those children became pieces of my heart.

I have various experiences from that year. First of all from those kids because every day is so different. I needed to plan workshops and lessons which meant I needed to find their motivation, possibilities, and what they were interested in.

Secondly, I am studying the Hungarian language and its culture and traditions. Usually, other volunteers and I attended their traditional days to celebrate together. I think it was the most beautiful experience in my life to share and study different cultures and traditions.

Also, I was on social media manager and I was doing some videos about your days, and I worked on the computer and prepared documents after the lessons or workshops.

I had an opportunity to meet the International volunteers and speakers from the European Solidarity Corps where we shared our ideas, motivation, activities, etc…

And finally, the organization allowed us to attend their international conference which was about Roma kids and the second conference was about Hidden dimensions. This was interesting for me because I met new people again who are experts in this field and I had an opportunity to listen to them.

In Georgia, I am looking for organizations where I can work and where I can share my experience. Of course, it should be connected to the children because they are a piece of my heart.

I have been a volunteer since 2019. We can call any job volunteering but if think more deeply any activities help us to improve ourself too as other people. We are studying and we are teaching and it helps us to make strong and educated people in our or different countries.

My advice to young people will be just to make an effort. Never give up. Don’t be afraid, there will be a lot of challenges but everything will be fine. Try and use your time wisely. And the main thing is to use every opportunity that you will have when you are a volunteer in different countries. I recommend the ESC project because when you need something they are always ready to help you.” – Tinatin Kvelashvili
