Equal Chances for Employment

WHY I DIDN’T LIKE THE PROJECT IN BAKURIANI…

Remember the day you found out about a project in Bakuriani. Finally you decided to apply. Summer climate, surfing, beach… It seemed to be perfect. Just… should I pack a swimsuit or not?

This is Bakuriani, they said.

It would be fun, they said.

Days passed and you were so excited about the idea of exploring Georgia, not about meeting west spanish (Portuguese) people (a Spanish joke).

On the arrival day you went to the airport or to the bus station, and a few hours later, you were in Georgia. Some of you gathered in the bicycle square, jumped into the bus, and had to push it after.

Tomas shouting one, two, one, two 😃

As a good Spanish team, they arrived late, from another airport and also overcame a snowstorm on the way. However, they made it up with good vibes and love, when they were not sleeping siesta, of course.

First days were a bit tough after realizing my Hawaiian outfit would not be useful here. Things needed to change fast. So there was the Hungarian team to offer us the first great night. This project is not that bad after all, this night was a nice welcome.

Day after day we were breaking our shyness ice defenses and getting warmer and warmer with each other. Despite the weather and the outside temperature of course.

We were not only doing brilliant research about employment in our country but we were also learning about each other’s situations, cultures, problems and hopes. We also discovered how Spanish, Armenians and Georgians don’t like to work (I don’t know who works less but at least the Armenians have been working for centuries because they were the first ones in this world, being the oldest nation is not easy), how to create a perfect CV, which job is appropriate for us and some more useful tools. We discovered ourselves through the wheel of life and the SWOT analysis model at the same time that we shared with others.

Every night we lost without any chance in kahoot vs Marci and tried delicious dishes from each country, but we had to be careful with the Hungarians because as you know, they are the most obese and alcoholic country in Europe.

Oh, we forgot to mention the Turkish. As Levan always does. They didn’t bring any alcohol to their night. That’s a bit boring. Not their dances, they were so addictive.

Now the question is: why shouldn’t you come to an Erasmus project in Bakuriani?

Snow wars, people not remembering names even the last day of the project (Mahmut), Mafia (with the best rules and moderator) Francisco complaining about it, The Psychologist with Sali and Nika being the best players after all, dances, Carlos locked out his roommates so Peti having to jump through the window, cultural nights, ice breaking activities and getting injured while skiing.

You should not come. We want it just for us. So the less people think about coming here, the more opportunities we will have to repeat these experiences.

Today is the last day of this project. And the best thing about it is that nothing ends here. We’ll meet very soon in the oldest city in the world to eat francesinha or kebab, while we taste palinka and chacha and have fiesta.

We did it!

We did it, people !
