Anil Karamov is a Georgian volunteer who joined JumpIn Italia in Poggiardo, Italy and carries out his long-term European Solidarity Corps project funded by Erasmus +. Read what he says about his upcoming experience:
“Am I going to Italy ?! I’ve always dreamed about it… Italian is the language of love. I can just listen to the Italians for hours without understanding anything. I only know a few words in Italian, like: “ciao, grazie, come stai, maledukato”. But I hope that at the end of this project I will speak Italian because I will be in Italy for 12 months.
I’m Anil from Georgia, 20 years old; a law student at Ilia State University, and I would like to share with you my feelings and expectations for the project in Poggiardo.
Firstly, I want to start with the fact that I did not expect at all that I would be included in this project, everything happened very quickly, literally I decided everything in 1 day, I wanted to leave my old job for a new one for a better job, and at that moment my documents were sent to the Italian coordinator, when she called and offered me to be a volunteer for 12 months in Poggiardo, I was shocked and did not know what to answer, she gave me 1 day to think. After thinking, of course, I decided to go. I quit my old job, gave up the new one and began to prepare documents, there was little time.
I think that this experience will be great for me, I think that what I learn in this project for 12 months will help me in the future as well.
My main task will be to work in the educational field with young people, which I love very much, because for many years I have worked with young people teaching them chess, yes, I am a chess coach.
This project is a great opportunity to share my personal experience as well as learn a lot from other international volunteers and, of course, it is an opportunity to study the Italian tradition, everything that concerns Italy.
Finally, I want to say that I fully consider myself ready to start this journey, fully open to new friendly relations, fully confident that I will return to my country with a large baggage of knowledge” – Anil Karamov.
